Why Barcelona star was taken off at half-time vs Real Betis

An explanation for the early withdrawal of Alejandro Balde from Barcelona’s clash with Real Betis has been forthcoming online.

Defender Balde sparked concern across Catalunya’s capital on Saturday evening.

The Spaniard was afforded his latest starting berth, as Barcelona made the trip to Seville for a La Liga meeting with the aforementioned Real Betis.

With just 45 minutes on the clock, however, he was hauled off by boss Hansi Flick, replaced in the Blaugrana’s backline by Andreas Christensen.

And as alluded to above, 24 hours on, an explanation as to why has come to the fore.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, who have revealed that:

‘He changed Alejandro Balde as the full-back had not yet recovered from a blow received in the first half.’

Despite his fitness concern, the expectation is that Balde will be cleared to feature from the off when Barca play host to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Tuesday.
