Why Barcelona star is out of Spain’s squad to face Czechia

An explanation for the absence of Barcelona star Pau Cubarsí from the Spanish national team’s latest matchday squad has come to the fore online.

Luis de la Fuente’s troops are primed to return to action in short order, when they play host to Czechia in a Nations League clash.

La Roja head into the fixture fresh off back-to-back victories to open their campaign, at the expense of England and Croatia respectively. The aforementioned Cubarsí for his part featured from the off in both of these fixtures, and continued to perform at a stellar level.

It therefore came as something of a surprise when word was forthcoming on Saturday that the 19-year-old had not been called up to face Czechia.

Those of a Barcelona persuasion, though, need not fret…

As per a report from Blaugrana journalist Ferran Martinez of Mundo Deportivo:

‘Pau Cubarsí will not play against the Czech Republic. After playing the first two matches in full, De la Fuente is giving him a rest. The plan is for him to be available for the match in Split against Croatia.’
