An explanation for La Liga giants Barcelona’s failure to register summer signing Joan García for league play over the last 24 hours has been forthcoming online.
This comes amid confirmation that the Blaugrana are also battling to register another recent addition for the club’s season opener.
Barcelona were of course handed a timely boost this past Wednesday, upon word coming to the fore that La Liga had deemed the injury being dealt with by Marc-André ter Stegen as a long-term one.
The Catalans, in turn, were given the green light to make use of the German’s freed wages to register one of their new signings.
The expectation was that the aforementioned Joan García would therefore be eligible to take to the pitch in Barca colours by the end of Thursday.
This, however, did not prove to be the case.
And as alluded to above, a day on, an explanation as to why has been provided.
As per a report from Diario AS:
‘The fact that the registration did not take place on Thursday is due to the fact that the Blaugrana club, in a last-minute move, also decided to fight for Rashford’s entry.’
The Camp Nou board remain hopeful that both Joan and Marcus Rashford will be registered in time to feature against RCD Mallorca this coming Saturday.
