Those behind the scenes at Barcelona are growing increasingly concerned by the contract situation of Celta Vigo star Óscar Mingueza.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have this weekend provided an insight into precisely why.
Defender Mingueza is for his part inching ever closer to the conclusion of his contract terms with the aforementioned Celta.
As things stand, the Spanish international is due to depart as a free agent in the summer of 2026.
And should this situation not change in the meantime, the board at La Liga rivals Barcelona will be left less than impressed.
The Blaugrana have maintained a considerable 50% sell-on clause on Mingueza since his departure from Catalunya’s capital back in the summer of 2022.
Amid long-standing speculation linking the 26-year-old with a transfer, Joan Laporta and co. were therefore rubbing their hands at the prospect of a potential cash injection.
In the case of Mingueza renewing, this clause would be extended over the length of his new deal.
Should the parties fail to reach a renewal agreement, and the versatile defender not be sold in January, though, Barcelona will lose their right to a split of a future transfer fee.
