Why Barcelona are not happy with Marc-André ter Stegen (again)

Those behind the scenes at La Liga giants Barcelona have this week been left unhappy with the behaviour of sidelined captain Marc-André ter Stegen.

That’s according to RAC1, who point towards as much as coming as a result of the German’s decision to sign a petition against the playing of a La Liga fixture in the USA.

The match in question had been pencilled in for December, when Ter Stegen’s own Barcelona were due to lock horns with Villarreal in Miami, Florida.

However, after something of a public backlash, the event as a whole has now been thrown firmly up in the air.

And as alluded to above, playing his part in as much was the Blaugrana’s long-time no.1

As per a report from the aforementioned RAC1:

‘Discontent at Barça due to Ter Stegen signing the AFE statement along with the other First Division captains, positioning themselves against the Miami match. They believe Ter Stegen should not have done so because it contradicts the club’s interests.’
