Why Barcelona are ‘concerned for the health of their players’ ahead of Rayo Vallecano clash

The coaching staff at La Liga champions Barcelona are growing increasingly concerned in the days leading up to their meeting with Rayo Vallecano.

This comes owing to the current state of the playing surface at Vallecas.

For those who may have missed it, footage of Rayo’s pitch went viral across social media on Wednesday evening.

As much came after the alarming condition of the grass was laid bare for all to see:

Rayo Vallecano are primed to return to action later this evening, when they play host to Belarusian outfit Neman in a Europa Conference League qualifier.

Then, just 72 hours later, it will be the turn of the aforementioned Barcelona to visit Spain’s capital.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Thursday is anything to go by, then Hansi Flick and co. already appear to be daunted by the prospect of their players lining out at Vallecas.

As per a report from Jose Alvarez Haya of El Chiringuito TV:

“The Barça coaching staff was amazed by the Vallecas pitch. They are concerned about the players’ health and the spectacle.”
