Those behind the scenes at La Liga giants Barcelona have been forced to face up to a fresh concern in the dressing room this week.
This comes amid confirmation of a bout of illness spreading in Catalunya’s capital.
On Wednesday, Barcelona saw Andreas Christensen forced to pull out of training, after feeling unwell.
And 24 hours on, Frenkie de Jong came down with a similar problem, departing the Ciutat Esportiva prematurely as a result.
Just three days out from the season’s first edition of El Clásico, Hansi Flick and co. are therefore growing increasingly worried regarding a potential outbreak of Gastroenteritis.
As per a report from Cadena SER:
‘Fears of a stomach virus spreading through the locker room surfaced during Thursday’s training session. Frenkie de Jong’s absence, and especially his diagnosis, has sparked a climate of concern that will require special care in the coming weeks.’
With a number of Barcelona’s first-team stars already unavailable through injury, the reigning La Liga champions will no doubt be hoping that no further cases of sickness are forthcoming over the days ahead.
