Who was named Barcelona Man of the Match vs Espanyol?

Barcelona star Joan García beat out the competition to clinch the Man of the Match award in the club’s latest outing.

This comes after the shot-stopper conjured up a sensational individual showing in a derby showdown with Espanyol.

Joan travelled back to his former stomping grounds at the RCDE Stadium for the first time since swapping Espanyol for Barca over the summer on Saturday evening.

And en route to an eventual 2-0 Blaugrana triumph, the 24-year-old proved himself the star of the show.

Joan was responsible for a string of nothing short of world-class saves, to somehow hold a dangerous Espanyol outfit at bay.

This ultimately opened the door for Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski to notch decisive late goals, to extend Barcelona’s advantage atop the La Liga table to seven points.

And as alluded to above, such contributions proved enough for Joan to be named ‘MVP’ (Man of the Match) of the Derbi Barceloní.
