Where is Deco amid the chaos at Barcelona?

An explanation for the widely-discussed absence of Barcelona sporting director Deco from the public eye over recent days has on Friday been provided.

The last 36 hours have of course proven of an altogether tumultuous nature for all associated with Barcelona.

This comes amid fresh speculation surrounding the situation on the club’s bench.

After reports pointed towards Joan Laporta and the Blaugrana board as having been left furious by comments laid out by Xavi in his pre-Almería press conference, claims have begun to mount that Barca’s headmaster is in line for an incoming dismissal.

President Laporta has been front and centre in such chatter, with the Spanish patron having remained in Catalunya’s capital whilst Xavi took his squad to the Power Horse Stadium on Thursday night.

Vice-president Rafa Yuste, along with several directors, on the other hand, accompanied the club’s first-team squad for their eventual 2-0 downing of Almería.

Where, though, is Deco?

Sporting director Deco is of course one of the leading public faces of the current Barcelona setup, with his absence amid the fresh chaos at the Camp Nou having therefore come as a major surprise.

As confirmed by Mundo Deportivo, however, the Portuguese, for his part, has a valid excuse.

Deco, it is understood, travelled back to his home country on Thursday, to tend to an ‘unavoidable personal issue’, the details of which remain unclear.
