A head-turning statistic surrounding the woes of Barcelona’s goalkeepers when it comes to keeping out penalty kicks has on Sunday surfaced online.
This comes after the Blaugrana were on the receiving end of another converted spot-kick.
Hansi Flick’s troops are of course currently locked in action.
Turning focus back towards matters on the domestic front after slipping to a first defeat of the campaign at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in midweek, Barcelona have made the trip to Andalusia to take on Sevilla.
Amid an evening to forget thus far for the visitors, however, they find themselves headed towards a 2nd successive loss.
Sevilla opened the scoring in the clash inside the opening quarter of an hour.
As much came after Ronald Araújo was responsible for giving away a penalty, which was subsequently converted by Alexis Sánchez.
And as alluded to above, these developments have since given rise to quite the statistic.
As revealed by statistician Fran Martínez:
‘A Barcelona goalkeeper hasn’t stopped a penalty in La Liga for three and a half years: Marc-André Ter Stegen from Roger Martí vs Levante (in 2022).’
