What Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti had to say before El Clásico

Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media on Friday ahead of Real Madrid’s trip to Barcelona on Saturday.

Here is what Ancelotti had to say before El Clásico, in words transcribed by Marca.

Jude Bellingham

“Bellingham is going to play because he is fine. He has recovered and is training today. He doesn’t need me to explain what a Clásico is because the professionals watch all the games and everyone knows what the Clásico is. It’s a game that everyone watches and it’s one of the most important.”

How are your players feeling ahead of El Clásico?

“They’re motivated. It’s a special game and it’s the first Clásico of the season. We’re in good shape.”

Who will play at left-back vs Barcelona?

“Camavinga has done well. Mendy has an advantage because he was rested in the Champions League game. I have confidence in everyone. I know that whoever doesn’t start the game will contribute a lot too.”

On Barcelona

“They are a great team, both in attack and defence. They have brought in young players with a lot of quality this season.”

Xavi has said that there are no favourites going into it. Do you agree with him?

“A Clásico, like a derby, is always evenly matched. It’s a very competitive match. I do hope people enjoy it.”

Substituting Modric

“They are professional and don’t ask for explanations. In the same way, I don’t usually give explanations to those who don’t play. There is nothing to worry about.”
