An insight into the plans of the coaching staff at La Liga giants Barcelona to best utilise the talents of incoming signing Dani Olmo has on Wednesday been provided.
The name of attacker Olmo has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.
This comes after confirmation was forthcoming that the Barcelona brass have at last pushed a deal for the 26-year-old over the line.
After Deco and co. recently turned their attentions towards Olmo’s signature owing to their failure to land first-choice target Nico Williams, negotiations kicked up a notch late last week.
An improved offer by way of the Camp Nou was subsequently accepted by their counterparts at RB Leipzig, with an official announcement, in turn, expected to be forthcoming in short order.
So, turning attentions towards his predicted impact in Barcelona moving forward, what should the Blaugrana faithful expect when it comes to Olmo’s role in Hansi Flick’s squad?
As alluded to above, efforts to land the Euro 2024 winner were suddenly increased, after word surfaced that Nico Williams intended to stay put at Athletic Club this season.
In turn, the suggestion was that Olmo would be utilised in his place, on the left wing.
This, however, is in fact not expected to be the case.
As per a report from Barca insider Adrián Sánchez, the incoming Leipzig star has been signed to act as an attacking midfielder.
Olmo is in line to occupy the role of engine room spearhead in Hansi Flick’s favoured 4-2-3-1 setup, with it reiterated that he has in no way been signed to play as a winger.
