An insight into the stance of the board at La Liga champions Real Madrid when it comes to securing January reinforcements has on Monday been provided.
And the news will no doubt mark a blow for all of a Blancos persuasion.
This comes amid confirmation that, despite the club’s latest alarming defensive performance on Sunday, Florentino Pérez and co. have no intention of dipping into the market this month.
Real Madrid’s defensive deficiencies were of course laid bare for all to see once more last night.
This came as Lucas Vázquez and Aurélien Tchouaméni were badly exposed, en route to a 5-2 Spanish Super Cup drubbing at the hands of Barcelona.
Such woes had given rise to immediate calls for additions to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, amid a lack of sufficient options at both right-back and centre-back.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then no such signings will be forthcoming.
As per a report from the reliable Mario Cortegana of The Athletic:
‘Sources played down what influence losing so heavily to their rivals might have on Madrid’s approach to the January transfer window. Ancelotti won’t be getting major reinforcements during this transfer window.’
