What Barcelona winning the Champions League would mean for Xavi’s future

An insight into what exactly a shock Champions League triumph on the part of Barcelona would mean for the future of departing head coach Xavi Hernández has been provided on Thursday.

The info comes courtesy of Helena Condis of Cope, who has revealed the latest on the mindset of the Spanish tactician.

The subject of Xavi’s future beyond the summer has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines in Spain across the week to date.

As much comes after confirmation was forthcoming in the media that Barcelona president Joan Laporta has not yet given up hope of the club’s headmaster reversing his decision to move on upon the season’s close.

In fact, some outlets have gone as far as to suggest that Laporta has directly asked Xavi to reconsider his future on a number of occasions over the last month.

Such pleas on the part of the Spanish patron, however, continue to fall on deaf ears.

That’s according to the aforementioned Cope, amid confirmation that, in fact, every day, Xavi feels more and more confident that he has made the right choice.

The former midfielder is labelled as both ‘liberated’ and ‘relieved’, looking forward to some well-earned time away from the game next season.

In turn, it is concluded that, even in the case of Xavi leading Barcelona to glory in the Champions League, he will nevertheless depart without so much as a 2nd thought.
