An alarming update on the situation of Barcelona star Ronald Araújo has come to the fore online over the last 24 hours.
This comes amid the surprise suggestion that the Uruguayan may never take to the pitch in the club’s colours again.
Defender Araújo has for his part of course endured a difficult last couple of weeks in Catalunya’s capital.
So heavily affected by the criticism aimed in his direction following a needless red card picked up against Chelsea in the Champions League, the 26-year-old felt the need to request a spell of leave from Hansi Flick’s squad.
And if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Araújo’s mental state does not appear to have improved all that much in the time since…
As reported by journalist Juanma Castaño, speaking during an appearance on COPE’s El Tertulión programme:
“It’s more serious than we think. Araujo’s situation is very serious, and we’ll see if he plays for FC Barcelona again. It’s a precarious situation.”
