New Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has this week revealed his excitement for the imminent return of a key member of his squad for pre-season training.
The player in question? Robert Lewandowski.
Frontman Lewandowski is for his part fresh off an extended vacation break.
After leading the line for Poland at Euro 2024, the veteran goalscorer was not required to report back to Catalunya’s capital until Monday.
Even at this point, though, Lewandowski was not asked to take to the training pitch, instead put through a series of medical examinations and tests.
The former Bayern Munich man will in turn link back up with his Barcelona teammates over the days ahead.
And, as alluded to above, one individual who cannot wait to see ‘Lewa’ back on the pitch comes in the form of his new manager.
Speaking in an interview with Barca One this week, Hansi Flick was asked about the predicted impact of his star goalscorer in his Blaugrana squad.
And the German tactician did not hesitate in outlining the missing ingredient which he expects Lewandowski to immediately introduce to his attacking ranks:
“For me, Robert will be in the 6 yard box. He is unbelievable. You know, these are his qualities, and I think what I miss here in training is scoring goals because we need a lot of opportunities to score a goal in training.”
