Real Betis president Ángel Haro has on Monday confirmed an imminent departure from the club’s attacking ranks.
The player all set to move on with a view to the season ahead? Ayoze Pérez.
The name of frontman Pérez has of course taken its place centre stage in the headlines in Spain across much of the summer to date.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the former Newcastle United man’s contract contains a cut-price release clause set at just €4 million.
The clause at hand attracted interest from one of Spanish football’s leading clubs, in Barcelona, who were for some time tipped as a potential landing spot for Pérez.
In the end, the Blaugrana opted against a move, however, which has since opened the door for other clubs to step in.
And, as alluded to above, early this week, one such club have been all but confirmed as Ayoze’s next landing spot.
Speaking to the media on Monday, in quotes gathered by transfer insider Matteo Moretto, Real Betis president Ángel Haro announced that the Euro 2024 winner is bound for La Liga rivals Villarreal:
“Villarreal have come to us with a significant offer for Ayoze and although we have made an effort, we have not been able to match their offer.”
