Vinícius Jr. has taken his place front and centre in the headlines, amid the early proceedings in Sunday night’s Supercopa de España.
The first piece of silverware of the Spanish campaign, of course, is currently being fought for in Saudi Arabia. This comes as Real Madrid and Barcelona lock horns once more, in the finale of the Super Cup.
Barca, for their part, are the reigning tournament holders, after battling to a 3-1 triumph in last year’s showpiece.
Safe to say, however, that things are not going quite so well for the Blaugrana this time round.
In fact, inside the opening 10 minutes in Riyadh, Xavi’s troops found themselves facing up to a two-goal deficit.
The aforementioned Vinícius bagged both goals, first latching onto Jude Bellingham’s defence-splitting pass to confidently round Iñaki Peña, before sliding home from close range after being teed up by compatriot Rodrygo.
And, on the back of both of his strikes, the Brazilian made full use of the opportunity to endear himself to the home crowd in attendance in Riyadh.
With the matchup being played at Al-Nassr’s home stadium, and Cristiano Ronaldo in attendance, Vinícius celebrated his brace courtesy of the Real icon’s famed ‘Siuuu’ stance.
