Watch: UEFA arrive at Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou

A delegation from European football’s governing body, UEFA, were on Thursday spotted in attendance at Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou.

As much came with a view to the ground being inspected for its upcoming reopening.

With the new Spanish season now officially underway, construction works at the Camp Nou have been kicked up a notch over recent weeks.

This comes amid hopes of the stadium being available for use for Barcelona’s home meeting with Valencia on September 14th.

As much has not yet been made official, but Joan Laporta and co. are pushing hard for the renovations to be completed within the next couple of weeks.

And as alluded to above, on Thursday, a potentially significant step towards as much was taken.

As per a report from Guillem Borràs Pérez of Spanish outlet Jijantes:

‘Barça have welcomed several UEFA workers this morning to oversee the condition of the Spotify Camp Nou and the progress of the construction work.

‘At issue is the stadium’s viability for hosting matches in the early part of this season. Crucial days.’
