Frontman Mbappé is of course in the midst of nothing short of a spectacular spell of form at present.
Heading into the evening’s action, the 26-year-old had found the net in each of his last nine appearances for club and country.
And such remarkable production only continued on Friday.
France are currently locked in action with Azerbaijan, in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
And on the stroke of the interval, with Les Bleus desperate for an opener, that man Mbappé provided the moment of inspiration required.
Picking the ball up from deep, the former PSG man danced his way through the visitors’ backline, before slotting a wonderful finish into the far corner.
