On-loan Real Madrid youngster Franco Mastantuono could not help but allow his disappointment to show after being hauled off in his first league outing for new club Fiorentina.
This came as the Viola were condemned to an alarming opening day result in Serie A.
Mastantuono was of course granted a departure from Spain’s capital this summer. After a somewhat hit-and-miss debut campaign in the colours of Real Madrid, it was decided that the 19-year-old’s development would be best aided by a temporary exit.
The aforementioned Fiorentina, amid something of a squad overhaul, in turn swooped to bring Mastantuono in for the duration of the 2026/27 season.
The Argentine international, from here, secured a first league start on Monday, as Fabio Grosso’s side got their Serie A term up-and-running with a trip to Italy’s capital to face AS Roma.
En route to an eventual 4-0 drubbing, however, Mastantuono endured a tough time of things, struggling with the persistent pressure put on him and guilty of repeatedly surrendering possession.
Upon being hooked from proceedings during the 2nd-half, the young attacker, in turn, allowed his emotions to get the better of him, slamming a water bottle on the ground after taking his place on the bench:
