An iconic figure at La Liga giants Barcelona was a surprise attendee at the club’s training base on Monday morning. The former Blaugrana star in question? Patrick Kluivert.
Barcelona’s pre-season preparations for the new term were kicked into gear earlier today.
For those members of Hansi Flick’s squad not called up for the World Cup in North America, they were summoned to the Ciutat Esportiva for a round of medical checks and scans, followed by work on the grass.
Owing to the reduced numbers at the call of Flick and his staff, a number of youth team stars were also drafted into the senior setup, afforded the chance to impress over the weeks ahead.
Amongst this group of La Masia graduates was 18-year-old Shane Kluivert, a blossoming forward held in high regard in Catalunya’s capital.
And as alluded to above, Kluivert was accompanied in his trip to Barca’s base by father and club legend Patrick, who lined out in Blaugrana colours for six years between 1998 and 2004:
