Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk has moved to heap praise on Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois on Tuesday night.
This comes after the Belgian conjured up another stellar individual showing against the Premier League champions.
Turning focus back to the 2022 Champions League final, when Courtois produced nothing short of a masterclass to lead Real Madrid past Liverpool, Van Dijk admitted:
“Courtois was outstanding, he started giving me the feeling of Paris 2022, but we found a way.”
Despite Courtois’ heroics over the course of the 90 minutes at Anfield, the former Chelsea man ultimately couldn’t do enough to prevent Real Madrid from being condemned to defeat.
A solitary goal proved the difference between the two European heavyweights upon the full-time whistle bringing a close to proceedings on Merseyside.
This came after Alexis Mac Allister broke free in the visitors’ penalty area to nod home the evening’s winner just beyond the hour mark.
