Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr’s challenging recent stretch on the pitch ramped up yet further on Saturday evening. This came as the Brazilian was shown a red card in Los Blancos’ latest outing.
José Mourinho’s troops are currently locked in action on the domestic front, late in a La Liga meeting with Villarreal.
After Yan Diomandé opened the scoring courtesy of his very first goal in Real Madrid colours during the 2nd-half, Los Merengues appeared to have put themselves out of sight 20 minutes from time.
Introduced off the bench, Vinícius Jr. slotted home from close range following some fine work down the left wing on the part of Jude Bellingham.
From here, however, referee Isidro Escuderos was called to the VAR monitor, to look back over an incident in the buildup to the goal. It was subsequently revealed that Vinícius, earlier in the sequence, had intentionally pulled on the hair of Villarreal’s Nathan Saliba in an effort to make space for himself.
Escuderos therefore made the call to disallow the goal, before showing Vinícius a straight red card.
