Villarreal announce injury setback

La Liga outfit Villarreal have on Friday announced a setback on the personnel front in the club’s first-team setup. This comes amid confirmation that Tajon Buchanan is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.

Versatile wide-man Buchanan has for his part continued to play a prominent role for Villarreal over the early weeks of the new campaign.

Across the Yellow Submarine’s eight fixtures between La Liga and the Champions League, the 27-year-old played his part in all eight, five times from the off, and three from the bench.

These exploits culminated in a call-up to the latest Canadian national team squad, for a trio of recent friendly outings.

Whilst lining out in the colours of his country, however, Buchanan suffered an injury blow. As confirmed in a statement across Villarreal’s social media platforms on Friday:

‘First-team player Tajon Buchanan suffered a muscular injury to the biceps femoris of his right leg during a match with the Canadian national team. His time out will depend on his recovery progress.’
