Valencia want a new No 9 to replace Edinson Cavani

The signing of Edinson Cavani has not gone as expected at Valencia. The Uruguayan striker has only scored five goals in La Liga and has experienced a tough time due to injuries and Rubén Baraja’s team selection. Faced with this situation, Valencia have begun to look for a solution, according to a report by Relevo.

Valencia have sounded out different teams, especially in Italy, to which the former PSG man could leave and the Mestalla outfit want a new striker to take over the No 9 role this summer.

The main reason Valencia are looking for a way out of Cavani is his salary. The player earns just over €5m gross, the highest in the Los Che squad this season ahead of José Gayà and Justin Kluivert.

The player had the initial idea of staying at the club and completing the second year of his contract because he feels he can still provide goals. However, he has always been clear that he would never be a problem for the club and if Valencia asked him to leave, he would not get in the way.
