Valencia star set for 3 weeks on the sidelines

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga outfit Valencia is primed for an extended incoming spell on the sidelines.

As much was confirmed by manager Carlos Corberán on Friday.

The player in question? Dimitri Foulquier.

Right-back Foulquier has for his part not played his part in either of Valencia’s La Liga outings since the October international break.

As much comes after the 32-year-old was diagnosed with an unspecified fitness problem.

Speaking to the media on Friday afternoon, the aforementioned Carlos Corberán was therefore drawn on Foulquier’s status to face Villarreal this weekend.

In a blow for all associated with Los Che, however, the club’s headmaster went on to confirm that his defensive star is facing up to a further two to three weeks on the treatment table:

“Foulquier, in the week before the Girona match,  began to notice something in his knee. He still insisted he could play. The clinical sensation didn’t improve, and tests are being carried out and treatment is being adjusted. We are in the final phase of treatment and we understand that he will be ready in two or three weeks.”
