Valencia have faced a heavy onslaught from several different clubs for both their goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili and midfielder Javi Guerra over the last days and weeks.
Both of these stars are key players at the club, and despite rumours that they were both set to leave this summer, Valencia have rejected five offers for the pair already.
As per Diario SPORT, the club’s sporting director Miguel Angel Corona has said that: “Rejecting offers for our players is a way of continuing to invest in the team’s performance.”
He also conceded that in a situation involving an offer which couldn’t be refused, the club would have to step back and carefully consider their options.
Given Los Che’s unstable financial situation, it is surprising that Valencia are going about their business this way, but the club’s board have clearly taken the stance that their players are worth more than they are being offered at present.
Valencia are currently trying to strike a balance between keeping their squad as strong as possible, whilst also keeping things afloat on the financial side of things.
It is very likely that the two players mentioned could still be the subject of offers during the remainder of the transfer window, and departures could still be on the cards.
