Valencia in fresh approach for Almería star

La Liga outfit Valencia have this weekend launched a fresh assault on the signature of a member of the defensive ranks at Almería.

This comes amid an ongoing push on the part of Los Che to bring Daijiro Chirino to Mestalla for the 2026/27 campaign.

Chirino is for his part fresh off an impressive season in Spanish football’s 2nd tier last time out. En route to a 3rd-placed finish in the La Liga 2 table, the stopper racked up 37 appearances, chipping in with three goals along the way.

Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at the heart of defence, the aforementioned Valencia, in turn, have set their sights firmly on Chirino’s signature.

After seeing a previous approach for the 24-year-old rebuffed, the Mestalla brass on Saturday tried their luck once more, in making contact with their Almería counterparts.

Carlos Corberán and co, however, were again left disappointed by the outcome.

As per a report from transfer insider Matteo Moretto:

‘In the last few hours, Valencia have gone back on the offensive for Daijiro Chirino with a new attempt, but Almería have also rejected this latest verbal proposal.

‘Almería do not want him to leave.’
