Valencia forward Rafa Mir detained by Spanish police following sexual assault allegations

The Guardia Civil national police force of Spain arrested Valencia forward Rafa Mir last night following allegations of sexual assault made against him.

As per Cadena SER, the alleged incident took place at the player’s home and involved two women, whilst another man has also been placed under arrest.

Rafa Mir joined Valencia in the summer on loan from parent club Sevilla and has made four appearances since making the move to Mestalla.

The two victims, who are aged around 25, filed a complaint following the incident, and then required hospital treatment.

The striker did not train with his teammates at Valencia today and spent last night in a cell at a Valencia police station, where he is currently awaiting transfer to make a statement before a judge.

This is a story still in development and we will aim to keep the story updated as new information emerges.
