Two members of the first-team ranks at struggling Girona will be forced to sit out the club’s next outing.
This comes owing to developments in the Catalans’ latest fixture on Saturday.
Míchel’s troops are fresh off another performance to forget this afternoon, which saw them put to the sword in nothing short of alarming fashion.
After welcoming Levante to the Estadi Montilivi, Girona were ultimately condemned to the wrong side of a 4-0 result.
The outcome, though, marked far from the only concern for the La Liga basement dwellers. In addition, they saw two of the club’s summer signings sent off.
First up came midfielder Axel Witsel, who lasted just half an hour before being given his marching orders for a pair of yellow cards.
And the Belgian was followed in being sent for an early bath by defender Vitor Reis, who was shown a straight red early in the 2nd-half.
Both players, in turn, are set to be suspended for Girona’s next outing, a daunting trip to Bilbao to face Athletic Club on Tuesday.
