La Liga giants Barcelona plan to afford two up-and-coming members of the club’s playing ranks first-team numbers for the season ahead.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Gerard Martín and Marc Bernal as the pair in question.
Both defender Martín and midfielder Bernal are of course fresh off breakout campaigns in Catalunya’s capital in 2024/25.
In the case of the former, he suddenly emerged as a viable alternative to first-choice left-back Alejandro Balde, en route to an impressive haul of 42 appearances across all competitions.
18-year-old Bernal, meanwhile, saw his sudden explosion brought to a cruel end by way of an ACL injury last August, but the starlet’s case for a permanent senior berth had long been staked.
In turn, it should come as little surprise, this week, to hear of Hansi Flick and co. preparing to afford both players first-team squad numbers.
