One of Turkish football’s leading clubs have positioned themselves in the fray for the signing of Spanish international Aymeric Laporte.
That’s according to Turkish outlet Fanatik, as cited by Solo Fichajes, who point towards Besiktas as the outfit in question.
The name of defender Laporte has of course reemerged as a prominent one in his home country over the last 24 hours.
This comes after the 31-year-old’s proposed return to Athletic Club fell through at the last minute.
As confirmed by Athletic themselves in a statement released on Wednesday:
‘Athletic Club wishes to inform its members and all its fans that FIFA has denied the Royal Spanish Football Federation’s (RFEF) request to obtain an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation in order to transfer player Aymeric Laporte.’
These developments have thrown Laporte’s future firmly up in the air once more, with it considered unlikely that the stopper will be reintegrated into Al-Nassr’s ranks.
And as alluded to above, with as much in mind, a new suitor are understood to have positioned themselves in the hunt for his signature.
As per a report from the aforementioned Solo Fichajes:
‘Beşiktaş requests the loan of Aymeric Laporte from Al-Nassr, as the transfer window is still open in Turkey. Fanatik reports that the 31-year-old Spanish international defender is considering his future options after the transfer to Athletic Club fell through.’
