Trio of Barcelona youngsters called up to first-team training before Valencia

Three up-and-coming members of the youth ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona were afforded a chance to impress as part of the club’s first-team setup on Saturday.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Barca’s squad, of course, are currently being put through their paces in preparation for a return to action on Monday night.

After being ousted from their berth in 2nd in the La Liga table by Girona on Saturday, the Blaugrana will play host to Valencia, in the knowledge that a return to winning ways is something of a must.

Long-term absentees Gavi and Alejandro Balde aside, Xavi is expected to have a full complement of players at his disposal in 48 hours’ time.

As alluded to above, though, in the direct buildup to the clash, the Spaniard nevertheless opted to reinforce his ranks in training this morning.

As much came by way of the inclusions of La Masia trio Leo Saca, Manu Vila and Wesley.

Saca is a 17-year-old central defender, who is currently plying his trade with Barca’s Juvenil B, alongside gifted attacker Vila, also 17.

Wesley, meanwhile, is a year older, therefore lining out for the Barca Youth B Team, long impressing from his berth in the middle of the park.

Though none of the three are expected to be called up for matchday duties on Monday, such early experience at first-team level will no doubt serve them well when it comes to the future.
