Thomas Tuchel explains Bryan Zaragoza’s Bayern Munich struggles

Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel has this week provided his take on the ongoing woes of winter signing Bryan Zaragoza.

Wide-man Zaragoza, for his part, secured a move to the Allianz Arena during the January transfer window, when the Bayern brass agreed to fork over an increased sum, to move his planned arrival from Granada forward by six months.

Safe to say, however, that the transfer has since not worked out as planned, for either party.

To date, the 22-year-old has been afforded just five Bundesliga appearances, for a grand total of less than 100 minutes.

Such woes have culminated in suggestions that Zaragoza could even be on the move in the summer, with Barcelona amongst a number of La Liga clubs keeping a close eye on the situation.

With his squad having of course now made their way to the attacker’s home country of Spain, ahead of an impending showdown with Real Madrid on Wednesday, the subject of Zaragoza’s difficult situation was in turn put to the aforementioned Thomas Tuchel once more.

And, in his response, Bayern’s headmaster moved to defend the Spanish international, assuring that ‘everything is in place’ for Zaragoza to come good in Bavaria:

“It was a big step for him, very big step – to come from where he played, with all due respect, to a Champions League team and in a difficult moment. I fought hard together with my sporting director to convince him to join us. Then soon after we didn’t have good results and decided with the club to part ways in the summer. Bryan doesn’t speak the language, no good English, no German. So it takes time, every transfer takes time. We’re happy with him. He trains with us, he’s here with us – but he still needs a bit of time. Everything is in place.”
