Thomas Partey set for La Liga return after being granted bail

Free agent midfielder Thomas Partey is primed to take his talents back to La Liga over the coming weeks.

That’s according to market insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Villarreal as the Ghanaian’s impending landing spot.

Partey is for his part currently not attached to any club.

After his contract terms with Premier League giants Arsenal came to a close earlier in the summer, the 32-year-old has since been fielding proposals from across the continent.

And as alluded to above, on Tuesday, Partey’s next career move inched a significant step closer.

As confirmed by journalist Fabrizio Romano, amongst other sources:

‘Thomas Partey has been granted bail, after appearing in court on rape charges.’

This development has opened the door for the experienced midfielder to put pen to paper on terms with his next club, amid further confirmation that ‘the former Arsenal midfielder will now join Villarreal as expected’.

Any such move would of course mark a return to La Liga for Partey, after the African previously spent time on the books of Leganés, Mallorca, Almería and, most memorably, Atlético Madrid.
