Thiago vs Marcus Sorg: Who will be on the bench for Barcelona vs Real Madrid?

An insight into the plans of the coaching staff at La Liga giants Barcelona to account for the absence of Hansi Flick this weekend has been forthcoming online.

Barcelona are of course primed to kick their campaign back into gear on Sunday evening.

A showdown with arch rivals Real Madrid lies in wait, in the season’s first edition of El Clásico.

The matchup pits 1st against 2nd in the La Liga table, with visitors Barca trailing Xabi Alonso’s hosts by two points as things stand.

In efforts to amend this situation, however, the Blaugrana will not be able to rely upon manager Hansi Flick.

Owing to a red card picked up against Girona last weekend, the German will sit out a one-game ban at the Santiago Bernabéu.

So, just who is set to replace Flick in Madrid?

Recent days had seen it suggested that Thiago Alcântara, now part of the coaching setup in Catalunya’s capital, could be afforded the chance to prove himself on Sunday.

This, however, will not be the case.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, with Thiago ineligible owing to his lack of an official coaching licence, it is Marcus Sorg who will take up the managerial reins for Barcelona at the Bernabéu.
