La Liga giants Barcelona have this week been urged to forget about the prospect of bringing in Julián Alvarez from Atlético Madrid.
This comes amid confirmation of the massive fee which the latter would be ready to demand to sanction a sale.
The name of frontman Alvarez has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines across Spain over the last week.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the Argentine’s explosive recent form has not gone unappreciated at Barcelona.
Amid an ongoing search for a long-term replacement for the aging Robert Lewandowski, Deco and co. are said to have earmarked Alvarez as the ideal profile.
In fact, according to Diario Sport:
‘FC Barcelona is clear that Julián Álvarez is their number 1 target for the next summer market.’
As alluded to above, however, if ensuing word doing the rounds in Spain this week is anything to go by, then those of a Blaugrana persuasion need not get their hopes up…
As per journalist Alfredo Martinez, speaking on Radioestadio Noche:
“Julián Alvarez is impossible for Barca… they can’t pay 200 million.”
