The Supercopa de España venue announced

The Spanish Football Federation has announced the venue and dates for the Supercopa de España (Spanish Super Cup), report Marca.

The competition will take place at the King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia, and will be held between January 11 and 15.

The format from the past two seasons will be kept, meaning the winners of La Liga and the Copa del Rey will also be joined by the other finalist of the Spanish Cup and the runner-up in the league.

The semi-finals, which will be Real Madrid – Valencia and Barcelona – Real Betis, will take place on January 11 and 12. The order in which the fixture will be played in is yet to be confirmed.

Fans of Spanish football have condemned the Federation’s decision to move the Supercopa de España outside of the country.

Current champions Real Madrid will be hoping to defend their title in the new year.
