The referee for Barcelona vs Real Madrid is now known

The official set to be charged with overseeing the upcoming showdown between Barcelona and Real Madrid has been chosen.

That’s according to a whole host of sources across the Spanish football landscape, who point towards Alberola Rojas as the official primed to take his place at the heart of the action this weekend.

The headline fixture of the La Liga calendar will of course be contested this coming Sunday, when Hansi Flick’s Barcelona welcome José Mourinho’s Real Madrid to the Spotify Camp Nou.

One of the headline talking points in the buildup to the latest edition of El Clásico has been refereeing, fresh off another weekend packed with controversy in the fixtures involving both Barca and Real.

Safe to say that the man in charge in Catalunya on Sunday will therefore no doubt have his hands full throughout the 90 minutes.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then it is Alberola Rojas who is expected to lead the team of officials for the Clásico.

Rojas, just 35 years of age, has taken charge of five La Liga fixtures across the season to date.
