The meaning behind Barcelona star’s ‘6’ celebration vs Real Oviedo

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona unveiled a new-look celebration during the club’s latest outing on Thursday.

The player in question? Ronald Araújo.

Barcelona were of course back in action a short time ago.

With sights on a 4th victory in succession since the international break, Hansi Flick’s troops made the trip to the Estadio Carlos Tartiere, for a meeting with Real Oviedo.

And en route to an eventual 3-1 triumph, the aforementioned Ronald Araújo played a starring role.

The Uruguayan first delivered the cross which led to Barca levelling things up at 1-1, before also rounding out the scoring courtesy of a fine header.

And it was in the aftermath of the latter that Araújo took the opportunity to pay tribute to a Blaugrana teammate.

Making his way in front of the TV cameras, the stopper held up the number 6 with his fingers.

This came as a show of support for Gavi (his jersey number), after the midfielder was condemned to a fresh long-term spell on the sidelines earlier this week.
