The ins and outs of the Memphis Depay to Atlético Madrid deal

Memphis Depay made it clear from minute one that he wanted to play for Atlético Madrid and he has reached an agreement with the Madrid-based club until 2025.

The deal between Barcelona and Atlético is a fee believed to be worth €3m plus €1m in variables, report Marca.

The player’s determination to move to Atlético has been decisive in the deal going through and he has given up his percentage of the transfer (about 15%) to end up signing for Los Colchoneros.

Depay will likely undergo a medical tomorrow [Thursday] morning, then sign his contract and officially join Diego Simeone’s squad. He could even take part in the training session that Atlético have scheduled for 18.30 at Cerro del Espino.

The Barça forward will play for Atlético for the remainder of the season and two more seasons, until 2025. He arrives at the club to strengthen their attack, where Simeone only currently has three players: Álvaro Morata, Ángel Correa and Antoine Griezmann, who is playing deeper.
