Quotes laid out by Barcelona star Wojciech Szczęsny regarding the talents of Espanyol counterpart Joan García earlier this season have this weekend returned to the fore in a major way.
This, of course, comes amid Joan’s ongoing links with a move to Barcelona.
Fresh off nothing short of a spectacular campaign in the colours of Espanyol, shot-stopper Joan is understood to have been identified as a leading transfer target on the part of the Camp Nou brass ahead of the summer.
So much so that an agreement between the parties on the personal terms of a contract has been labelled as ‘almost done’.
Those of a Blaugrana persuasion, in turn, will no doubt be interested to learn of the fact that a current member of the goalkeeper ranks in Catalunya’s capital not long ago lavished praise on Joan.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of a 2-0 Barca victory over Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium, Wojciech Szczęsny raved:
“I want to congratulate Joan García. I think he’s been the best goalkeeper in La Liga this season. He has a very bright future ahead of him.”
