The Barcelona scout who spotted Lamine Yamal and Marc Guiu

Barcelona continue to spot the best talent in Spain and introduce them to Xavi’s first-team squad.

Isidre Gil is Barcelona’s scout in the Maresme and Vallès regions in the province of Barcelona. Gil is the man responsible for sending the club the talent in the area who he feels can make the step up to the La Liga giants.

AS report that the Barcelona employee recommended both Lamine Yamal and Marc Guiu to the club. The former is a Spain international at 16 and the latter only needed 30 seconds to score for the first team on his debut against Athletic Club on Sunday night.

In 2013, Gil received a call from one of the De Haro brothers, of the Penya Barcelonista academy in Sant Celoni. They asked him to go and have a look at a seven-year-old boy who was tearing it up in 7-a-side matches. Gil went to monitor the promising kid before immediately calling Barcelona to send him on trial.

Ten years later, Marc Guiu, aged 17 years and 291 days old, took to the pitch at the Olímpic Lluís Companys to make his debut for Barcelona’s first team, and with his first touch he beat Athletic and Spain goalkeeper Unai Simón to give Barça all three points and put them one point behind Real Madrid a week before El Clásico.
