The board at La Liga giants Barcelona are confident that the departures of two members of the club’s first-team squad will open sufficient space on the wage bill to register Wojciech Szczęsny.
That’s according to Marca, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at the Camp Nou.
Goalkeeper Szczęsny was for his part forced to sit out over the weekend, as Barcelona got their league campaign up and running in a meeting with RCD Mallorca.
This comes with the Pole not yet registered for action in Spain’s top-flight in 2025/26.
Deco and co. prioritised pushing the registrations of summer signings Joan García and Marcus Rashford over the line in the buildup to Saturday’s trip to Son Moix.
Now, though, work is underway to ensure that Szczęsny can at least take his place on the bench against Levante next time out.
And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Monday is anything to go by, then the departures of two out-of-favour Blaugrana players appear to be the key to as much.
As per a report from Marca:
‘Negotiations will now be conducted with Oriol Romeu and Iñaki Peña. With these two departures, the club believes it will generate sufficient fair play to register the Pole.’
