Take Kubo explains what he needs to do to become a top player

Speaking to Movistar+ after Real Madrid’s 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad on Sunday, Take Kubo explained what he has to improve on if he wants to get to the very top.

The Japan international was excellent on the night for La Real, who picked up a valuable point on the road.

“I need to be better in front of goal,” Kubo said post-match.

“To make that leap to become an elite player I have to score more goals and assist more. With the chances that my team-mates created for me, I should have taken advantage of some of them”, he admitted.

“I think it’s a matter of getting the chances again and being more relaxed [in front of goal].”

The 21-year-old went on analyse the draw against Real Madrid. “We defended well, with a lot of players at the back. I think we are competing very well, both on Wednesday and today, showing that eleven against eleven we can compete with anyone.

“We go into games with a lot of enthusiasm. Right now, we have nothing to lose, because we are ahead of those behind us and, although Madrid and Barça are a few points ahead of us, we can’t ask for more. The atmosphere is good… the downside is the injuries we have, but the atmosphere in the camp helps a lot,” he added.
