As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Portuguese football agent Jorge Mendes is in England to discuss João Félix’s potential transfer to Chelsea from Atlético Madrid.
The La Liga side are holding out for a fee around €60m for the striker, however the Blues do not intend to pay such a substantial fee. Chelsea’s search to bring in another forward took a drastic twist last weekend when a deal to sign Felix’s Atlético teammate, Samu Omorodion, collapsed.
This has put Conor Gallagher’s move to the Spanish capital in jeopardy with the deal now hanging in the balance. Atlético, who recently completed the signing of Julián Álvarez from Manchester City for €95m, now need additional funds to complete the deal for Gallagher.
Félix, who joined Chelsea on loan in 2023, emerged as a potential solution in the negotiations between Chelsea and Atléti, if an agreement can be reached over the fee and payment structure. The London club could face competition from Aston Villa, who are also keen on bringing the Portugal international back to England.
Villa boss Unai Emery is a huge admirer of the player, but like their Premier League rivals they don’t want to overspend on Félix.
Mendes is also in England to resurrect talks between Manchester United and Paris St Germain over the transfer of Manuel Ugarte.
