The Barcelona faithful should be hugely excited by the arrival of Joan García in the club’s first-team ranks with a view to next season.
This comes with the 24-year-old having been, statistically, the best goalkeeper in La Liga last season.
Wednesday has of course been ‘Joan Day’ in Catalunya’s capital.
This comes after Barcelona at last made official the signing of the shot-stopper, on a six-year deal from city rivals Espanyol.
Joan is expected to immediately take over starting duties in Hansi Flick’s squad, favoured to all of Marc-André ter Stegen, Wojciech Szczęsny and Iñaki Peña.
And if the stats are anything to go by, then as much should come as little surprise…
As revealed by statisticians WhoScored, Joan, with 145 to his name, ‘made more saves than any other goalkeeper in La Liga last season’.
Not only that, but ‘he also had the best save percentage out of the top 10 goalkeepers with the most saves in 2024/25’, boasting an impressive 73.71% save rate.
