Stats: Real Madrid star shines in unfamiliar position on international duty

Real Madrid star Éder Militão on Saturday kept alive a stellar run of individual form.

This came by way of the defender’s latest showing on the international front, in the colours of Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil.

Militão was in from this evening, as the Seleção locked horns with Senegal in their latest preparatory outing for next summer’s World Cup.

The former Porto man, though, did not take to the pitch in his standard centre-back berth.

With Marquinhos and Gabriel Magalhães filling the heart of Brazil’s defence, Militão was tasked with lining out at right-back.

And the 27-year-old, who has been utilised as a full-back on rare occasion in the past, went on to provide a reminder of his impressive versatility.

Across the 90 minutes, Militão shone on both sides of the ball, stout in his defending, and more than tidy in possession.

All told, such efforts gave rise to the following round of statistics:

  • 88% completed passes
  • 100% completed dribbles
  • 55 touches
  • 2 interceptions
  • 5 clearances
  • 8 recoveries
