Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois has this week been lavished in fresh praise by Athletic Club counterpart Unai Simón.
This comes amid the assurance on the part of the latter that, when firing on all cylinders, no goalkeeper in world football can touch Courtois’ level.
Speaking during an interview with Diario AS whilst on international duty with Spain this week, Simón was drawn on the name of Real Madrid’s no.1.
And the 28-year-old made full use of the opportunity to heap praise on Courtois:
“Thibaut Courtois is undoubtedly the best GK in the world if he’s at his current level. It’s impossible to find anyone better than him. If there’s a ball that Courtois can’t stop, then none of us can stop it.”
Courtois, for his part, has looked back to his brilliant best over recent weeks.
After coming in for criticism on the part of sections of the Real Madrid fanbase for his shot-stopping (or rather lack thereof), the former Chelsea man has since conjured up a string of top-class performances in Blancos colours.
